Chemical manufacture came to the Grosvenor site in 1976 when it was acquired by Crewe Chemicals. Before this time the site had had a number of uses including carpet manufacture. In 1980, having over extended themselves on Atrazine Crewe Chemicals went into receivership and the site was purchased by Mirfield Sales and the company became Pennine Chemical
Services. MSS were a trading company and spent little money on developing the site.
